The Gladius, a double-edged sword with a sharp, tapering tip, was popularized by the Legions at the height of the Roman Empire. This close-quarter weapon complemented the fighting style of the Roman legions, suited for thrusting, stabbing, slashing, and chopping. Historical accounts depict variations in blade length, ranging from 18 to 28 inches, with the handle featuring ridges for better grip and ending in a knob. The sword's overall length is 68cm (26.7"), with a blade length of 50cm (19.7") and handle length of 18cm (7"). The blade's width is 4cm, with a thickness of 6mm, and it weighs 2.0kg (5.4lb) with the scabbard. Crafted from 1095 High Carbon Steel, the sword also comes with a Huali Wood sheath. Without the sheath, the sword weighs 0.9kg (2.0lb) and is designed as a handmade sword with a full tang and sharp blade measuring 19.7" in length, with the handle measuring 7".
