Description lyuesword has been producing Japanese swords for over 10 years. This handmade sword is crafted using traditional Japanese techniques, making it ideal for practice in all sword arts, competition cutting, and collecting. Every step of the process, from forging to polishing to sharpening, is done by experienced smiths.

Blade The 27.8-inch blade is made of L6 steel and has a Maru structure with a clay temper line. A special clay is applied by hand, resulting in a quicker cooling of the edge during quenching, producing a harder edge and softer back. The blade is in full-tang, providing increased strength, allowing it to cut a thick bamboo tree and slice paper. The blade also features a beautiful real hamon resulting from the differential cooling of the blade.

Guard (Tsuba) The tsuba is made of brass, secured with two Seppas spacers, and the blade collar (Habaki) is composed of brass.

Handle (Tsuka) The handle is covered in real black ray skin and wrapped with 10mm wide real red silk Tsuka Ito. The Fuchi and Kashira on the tsuka are made of brass with matching Menuki on each side as an ornament. The tang of the sword is secured by two Mekugi pegs, allowing for disassembly.

Sheath (Saya) The hard wooden saya of the sword is lacquered with a superior, high gloss finish. The Sage-O is tied around the Kurikaka, and the scabbard mouth (Koiguchi) and tip (Kojiri) have been hardened.

Notice The sword is well assembled with the saya and includes a free silk bag. A box and stand are not included. Each sword is professionally checked before shipping and packaged in a foam box for protection. The full-length tang greatly enhances the strength of the sword, making it a fully functional, live blade Shinken Katana, or "real sword."
